YOU MISSED OUT IF YOU DIDN'T GET TO MEET HIM.
Peter loved the water from a very young age. On it or in it, he was happy.
Growing up with lake access propelled his love of water into a life long joy. He adored being on the water with family and friends, sharing time with them, swimming or fishing.
Active in high school (St. Cloud Tech) and college (Hamline University) swim teams Peter thrived. At Hamline University in 1968 he broke 2 swim records; the 200 Freestyle and the 200 Butterfly.
Peter could be found almost every morning, at the YMCA doing laps. Throughout his swim career, Peter competed in swim challenges around the state; including the Lake Minnetonka 5 Mile Swim Challenge and the Masters swimming program. He loved pushing the envelope.
Passionate about swimming and fishing, Peter was also very active in the local community. His big heart was wide open to everyone. He co-founded Healthy Brains for Children, an organization breaking new ground in the prevention of prenatal exposure to alcohol in pregnancies. He was highly involved in the Rotary Club, Elks, Boy Scouts of America, Baxter Bass Snatchers, and his church.
Peter was a leader and liked by all. Helping anyone within his power, he could bring a smile to anyone's face.
In his time he touched many lives, after his passing, his legacy and memory live on and continues to help others to be better.
